Spock is a Blue and Gold Macaw. He was from our first clutch of baby Blue and Golds hatched at our aviary. His birthday is 3/02/01. He is very talkative, with a vocabulary of approximately 40 words. He uses his words appropriately, and he loves to play and interact with the family.

Grayden is a Congo African Gray. Grayden came to us as a breeding bird, but she had other ideas and is now a family pet. Grayden is an excellent talker with too many words and phrases to count. Grayden loves to keep the other house hold pets in check from telling our Zorro to “be quiet and go to bed” to calling our dog Jake, whistling for him to come and then telling him to lie down. Graydens favorite game is to call our cat by name, entice her to pull up on the bottom of Grayden’s cage then nipping at the cats toes. Graydon can whistle several tunes. She is a quick learner, it take approximately 1 to 2 weeks to teach Graydon a new tune.

Paddy is a Patagonian Conure. Paddy is 12 years old. She is our oldest daughter’s baby; however, she lives with us. Paddy is very sweet, loves children. She too has a very large vocabulary. She loves to show off and attends a lot of events with us. She has gone to schools and demonstrated how she can wave and say hello to children, she plays peek-a-boo with children as well. Paddy also attends the exotic bird exhibition at the N C State Fair and the Raleigh Durham Caged Bird Association Bird Fair, each year. Paddy’s favorite thing is to lay on her back on one of our daughters and watch TV. Paddy entered her first SPBE Contest at the 2004 RDCBS Bird Fair. Paddy won first place in the Pet Division.

Zorro is a Cherry Head Conure. Zorro is 8 years old. He has a very large vocabulary, and is Mr. Attitude all the way. While he can be very sweet and he loves to be held, he wants what he wants, when he wants it. Zorro’s favorite things are to play with rope toys and to hide in them.

Jasmine is an Umbrella Cockatoo. She came to us from a very large breeding facility in Florida. Jasmine is 11 years old. When she came to us, she was not used to being handled. It took us almost a year for her to trust my daughter and I enough to step up on us. It took and additional 3 years more for her to trust my husband. Now she is all over us begging for that all important scritch. Jasmine does not talk as her beak was damaged by an attempt to mate her in the facility we purchased her from. Jasmine “knows” she rules the roost and struts her stuff around the living room, keeping everyone in line.

Peaches – Peaches is a Peach Front Lovebird. We aren’t sure of the sex or age of Peaches but he is a character none the lass. Peaches waits patiently for his/her play time and rides around on our shoulders while we make our feeding rounds. Peaches is the only pet bird that is tolerated by all pets in the house as Peaches has no fear of sitting beside our Blue and Gold or any birdie else.
Gypsie – Gypsie is a Yellow Collard Macaw who is our greeter of the flock. When we leave the house he calls out “good bye”. Gypsie is an excellent talker, and loves to play quietly on the play stands. Gypsie has an excellent vocabulary and loves to whisper to us. Gypsie is also a practical joker as once he let himself out of his cage, moved onto the desk and started riffling through the papers, he managed to knock the phone off its hook, all while I was in the basement. Hearing bumps and bangs above me I picked up the phone (unsure if there was an intruder) to call a neighbor only to hear a voice mumbling and papers shuffling. I snuck up stairs to investigate ready to take on the intruder only to find it was Gypsie.
Charlie –Charlie is a Brown Throat Conure, Sub Species St. Thomas, and quite rare. Charlie is our oldest daughters friend, he is a bit cranky, but loveable just the same. Charlie also has a wonderful vocabulary from tickle tickle to asking What cha doin? Charlie is quite selective about who his other bird species friends are, he loves to hang out with Zorro and the cockatiels.
