Blue Gold Macaw (Ara ararauna)

The Blue Gold is a large bird. The head, back, and wings are covered with a blue-green color. The frontal body plumage is yellow. The Blue and Gold has the whitish skin face mask (photos below)..

 

Length:   33 Inches (Larger bird)

Average Lifespan:   70 to 90 years

Gender:  Undeterminable by appearance

Origin: Central America to South America

 

Trainability

Requires much attention, can be trained to talk. Requires large space due to large size. When hand raised they are very loving and playful. They are not cuddlers, they like to be on the move.  Constant supervision is highly recommended as they like to chew and pull things apart.

 

Recommended Toys

Large pieces of untreated wood, old telephone books, acrylic toys.  Metal Non-zinc chain.
